May-Long Weekend

This past weekend, we were thrilled to have a house full of company for the May Long weekend.  My oldest nephew and his wife came out from BC, as well as my parents were here.  Although I'm fairly certain our company wasn't excited about the weather forecast of rain all weekend, since we've been in a drought, we were ecstatic!  The clouds started rolling in on Thursday night, and looked awfully ominous!

After a good douse of rain, we even got snow!  Definitely not unheard of for the long weekend.... and we decided we'd take the moisture in any form we got!

My lilacs still smelled amazing, even though they were covered in snow.... and thankfully, we didn't lose any trees, as the snow melted by the afternoon.

Since the weather was cold and dreary, we spent lots of time playing games at the kitchen table, which was fun!

We also took everyone to the Reynolds Museum, which is a favorite spot of ours to visit.  I knew that both Alex and my dad would really enjoy the museum, so that was fun to go through with the kids again.

Also on the weekend, Hannah also took her dog, Bandit, to his (and her) first stock dog training clinic.  He was definitely VERY eager to get at the sheep, and I was pleased to see that by the end of the day, both him and Hannah were starting to get the hang of working sheep.  What a great experience for both of them!  We were also thankful that the clinic was inside, because it rained over 3" that day!

Since we had a full house on the weekend, I was trying to figure out where to put everyone to sleep.  We decided to convert my She Shed into what I like to call.... The Love Shack

We took the loveseat out of there, and put in a double bed.  I didn't anticipate it being so chilly, but we had an electric fireplace and a bunch of blankets out there also.  I think it turned out quite cute!

Naturally, once everyone had left, the weather turned nice again....

When I was driving home from dropping my Mom off at the airport, there was an elk, standing in the middle of the road.  She was quite content to stand there, so I had to stop and wait a few minutes for her to move.... eventually, she met up with a buddy in the field and they took off.  I'm always amazed at what I see on my drive home.
